Moore-McNeil, LLC (“Moore-McNeil”) is an insurance consulting firm with extensive experience in providing due diligence and outsourced risk management services.
Our targeted industry expertise and ability to execute on complex transactions has positioned us as the insurance consultant of choice in the areas of conventional power, renewable energy, oil and gas, mining, metals production, chemicals/processing, road, rail and bridge infrastructure, and public-private partnerships, among others.
Since early 2005, the company has performed insurance due diligence services and provided consulting expertise for lenders, multi-laterals, tax equity investors and sponsors on well over 2,500 construction, operational, project finance, corporate finance, tax equity investments, acquisitions and work-out transactions primarily in the United States, Canada, and Latin America, but in other countries as well.

Haney H. Swidan, BA (Risk Management)

Haney began his career in insurance advisory and risk management with Marsh USA Inc. specializing in the industries of power and energy and was an integral part of the Lenders insurance due diligence and consulting team. In 2007, he joined Moore-McNeil and has taken a lead role advising lenders and tax equity investors on structured finance transactions involving real estate, traditional power (gas and coal) and renewable energy (wind, solar, hydroelectric, geothermal, biomass and biofuel) transactions in the U.S. and Canada. He has spent nearly his entire career as an insurance advisor within the Project Finance sector and has an in-depth understanding of insurance matters that are associated with structured finance transactions.

Mari Beth Ross, BA, ARM

Mari Beth joined Moore-McNeil in 2013, bringing more than 20 years of experience in corporate risk management, including most recently having spent more than ten years leading the insurance and risk management function as Senior Director, Insurance, at NRG Energy, Inc. Mari Beth has expertise building and managing property and liability programs protecting coal, natural gas, combined cycle, nuclear, wind and solar generation, mining operation assets, and retail energy.
In her capacity, she led insurance due diligence on multiple acquisitions and divestitures, domestically and internationally, and has worked on dozens of project financing transactions in negotiation of terms of insurance requirements and ensuring compliance on behalf of the sponsor company. At Moore-McNeil, she has worked on more than 100 non-recourse project finance (and refinancing) transactions, including in the wind and solar energy, independent power production, hydroelectric, mining, and biomass industries. The types of transactions vary from traditional financing, back leverage financing, bond issuance, tax equity financing, synthetic leases to sale-leasebacks. She also provides outsourced risk management services to a number of firms.
Mari Beth graduated from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation.

Sandy Calvert, MBA

Sandy brings 27 years of experience in claims and risk management prior to consulting for Moore-McNeil. For the first five years of her career, Sandy worked her way through various claims roles before becoming an Examiner of the Midwest Region at Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. For the past 22 years Sandy worked in a variety of roles at 3M, Imation, NRG Energy, Target, and most recently the Director of Risk Services at Mortenson Construction Co. before coming to Moore-McNeil.
In her various risk roles, Sandy was responsible for placing large domestic and international general liability, automobile, property, directors and officers, cyber risk, and professional insurance programs for manufacturing, power and energy, retail, and construction risks.
At Moore-McNeil she has led insurance consulting non-recourse projects in solar, wind, large hydro, mines, natural gas and crude pipelines, compression gas facilities, biomass, water treatment, salt cavern storage, combustion gas plants, and infrastructure projects including PPP projects. Her past experience in insurance includes a variety of traditional building projects such as distributions centers, big box retail, hospitals, medical facilities, hotels, and stadiums.
Sandy holds an undergraduate degree in Business from the University of Montana and a MBA in Finance from St. Thomas University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Andrew Posewitz, MBA

Andrew joined Moore-McNeil in 2017 following an 18-month term as the Deputy Insurance Commissioner for the State of Montana. Prior to that, he enjoyed a 15 year career in risk and executive leadership for Todd Pacific Shipyards and Vigor Industrial. Ultimately responsible for the placement and management of policies and operations across 7 operations in 3 states. In addition to his risk management duties, Andrew served on a number of acquisition, due diligence and integration teams during a period of rapid expansion, ultimately leading all loss control efforts across the organization. Prior to that he worked for a specialty insurance carrier specializing in high risk exposures. In addition, he has also served as Human Resources Director. Andrew earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Whitman College and his Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington.

An accredited Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Christin brings hands-on insurance underwriting experience to the team. She has more than ten years of experience, including property and casualty underwriting, research analysis, job and task analysis, report writing, project management, and systems directional consultation. Other hands-on experience includes performing as a senior analyst for a consulting firm specializing in developing functional engineering training manuals for industries such as power, nuclear, chemical, and heavy industry.
At Moore-McNeil since 2005, Christin has worked as a consultant providing due diligence services on more than 300 transactions that include biofuels, energy, and power generation (from wind to cogeneration).

Edward C. Adams, MBA, CPCU

Ed brings over 37 years of experience in underwriting and risk management. As Executive Underwriter for a leading multinational insurance company, he developed specialized coverage forms that dominated target markets. After 7 years of underwriting, Ed established the risk management program for a privately-held retail chain that grew to Fortune 250 status. The sophisticated techniques he implemented during his 11-year tenure as Risk Manager were cited as key factors in the company's successful IPO.
Prior to joining Moore McNeil in August 2017, Ed spent over 18 years at Duke Energy using his risk management expertise in many areas. He has extensive experience directing all lines of property and casualty insurance associated with a fully integrated electric utility. Ed has managed insurance programs for countless construction projects, including gas pipelines, carbon burnout systems, flue gas desulfurization units, synthetic fuel facilities, commercial transmission infrastructure, and electric generation plants (coal, nuclear, simple cycle gas, combined cycle gas, integrated gasification combined cycle, hydro, solar, wind and biofuels). Ed has in-depth knowledge of due diligence review activities from his experience in several successful mergers and acquisitions, in addition to his role as subject matter expert on prospective acquisitions. He also directed loss control activities, negotiated major property claims, reviewed all major contracts, and managed the insurance programs for all subsidiaries (coal mining, international railroad services, telecommunications, marine barge and terminals).
Ed graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Adminstration, has a MBA from Elon University, and is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).

James “Jim” Corcoran

Jim has worked in all areas of energy insurance and risk management, including most recently with Meyer-Reynolds & Associates focused on global renewable and alternative generation development and construction.
In 2006 Jim retired as Senior Vice President for Marsh USA in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he was responsible for managing the servicing and broking of construction and operational insurance programs for power, upstream, midstream and downstream on/offshore energy, contractors, major industrial, and private equity clients. Additionally, he was engaged in insurance advisory and due diligence on non-recourse financing for banks and insurance companies. His areas of specialization include property, boiler and machinery, marine and construction insurances.
Jim’s construction experience encompasses a range of conventional, alternative, and nuclear projects for owners and contractors, including builders all risk, owner-controlled and contractor-controlled wrap-up programs. In addition to the U.S., Jim has handled or consulted on projects in Canada, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, China, India, Israel, Malta, the U.K., and throughout eastern and western Europe. His prior experience includes tenures at Johnson & Higgins and more than ten years with Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, where he served as regional and national underwriting manager for the power, refining, and pulp and paper industries in their home office.
Jim holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute of Technology and a MBA from Georgia State University. He also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) professional insurance designation.

Jim joined Moore-McNeil in 2011 and brings over 25 years of hands-on experience in corporate risk management from a variety of domestic and international operations. He has worked in all areas of energy risk management, including most recently with NextEra Energy Inc. focused on wind, solar, hydro, natural gas, and nuclear energy sources in 26 states and Canada. Jim’s responsibilities included due diligence review for all acquisitions and divestitures, contractual risk evaluation, property claims management, and providing risk management support for the financing activities of the aforementioned generation assets.
Previous experience:
- Risk Manager for Atlantic Marine, Inc. (now a subsidiary of BAE Systems) which entailed insurance program design and implementation as well as establishing protocols for workers compensation and safety programs.

Julie Stewart, MBA

Julie has worked in various sectors of the power and infrastructure industry over the last 25-plus years, including more recently providing credit and underwriting services to the Department of Energy’s LPO office for their Title XVII loan program. Prior to joining the credit team at the DOE in 2010, Julie was a Senior Vice President with Moore-McNeil in the area of risk advisory and due diligence services working in a variety of industries, including the power sector (renewables, fossil fuel fired facilities, etc.), infrastructure financings including toll roads (PPP), and other industrial projects.
Her work history prior to Moore-McNeil included managing acquisitions (power and distribution companies), including the due diligence and pricing efforts, power project development, and new strategic businesses development in South America, Central Europe, and the U.S. for First Energy (formerly GPU) and TXU (formerly Enserch Development). In addition, she developed a solid financial background through her years at GE Capital focusing on non-recourse finance transactions.
Julie’s areas of expertise include due diligence, contract risk analysis, and re-structuring of troubled assets. She also has been involved in the risk management aspects for a number of projects and workout transactions.
Julie holds an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California at Davis and a MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.

Paul brings over 36 years of experience in commercial risk management, including nine years on the risk management staff of a multinational conglomerate and 17 years servicing property and casualty accounts spanning industry sectors while a broker with Willis, Arthur J. Gallagher, and Beecher Carlson. He previously worked with the team in their earlier iteration at Marsh as part of the lenders consulting team and as an account manager on power accounts, where his attention to detail served to provide a robust due diligence for annual review, compliance, and contract analysis. He has been with Moore-McNeil for over ten years.

Ray Mandala

Ray, who joined Moore-McNeil in early 2020, brings more than 20 years of experience in commercial insurance. He began his career with Marsh in Australia, followed by four years in Singapore and five years in New York with the company.
Ray's experience includes placing and servicing of large domestic and international property, stand-alone terrorism, builder's risk, and marine insurance programs for power, energy, real estate, and construction projects.
In addition to the U.S., Ray has handled infrastructure projects of all types around the world, including:- Asia-Pacific: Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

Rachel Cordero

Rachel began working with Moore-McNeil in 2008, and her career spans 15 years in business administration, including roles as an education director for a college, communications director for a not-for-profit organization, and currently the administrative director for another not-for-profit organization.
Rachel has a Master’s Degree from Liberty University, and her experience in business process development and implementation as well as her analytical skills add significant value to Moore-McNeil’s business operations.
